The number of passengers transported says something different. I don't know about Manizales but gondolas in La Paz have enormous passenger flow.
The more they reduce the speed or time of work the less passengers will use it.
People need speed nowadays!
For this particular line (in Medellin) an increased speed (from 5 m/s to 6 m/s) would save about 20 gondolas (which in turn would save about 15% of the footprint for the parking building), however it would likely require longer stations with more conveyor wheels and longer platforms plus higher operational costs due to higher power consumption (likely bigger drive unit as well) and decreased life cycle of certain parts.
I think for Poma in this case it's better to sell more gondolas but what is better for the customer should be carefully assessed - I'm working on similar issue with my project right now )
