The higher the frequentation of a site, the more it goes up in the search engines simply because day by day, a file of cartography of the site is updated. And the basic principle (but that's not the only one), is to kindly favor the aspiration by Google (in first way). And from this point, the undesirable frequentations come. Of course, afterwards, there are barriers to counter this, but when it's massive enough, there is always an (small...) amount of unwanted connexions. On a site like rm.net, given its very good google ranking, this is what probably leads to these "records". In any case, I already see this phenomenon on my site whose traffic is lower than rm.net.
